Palawan Pawnshop was established in Puerto Princesa City. The first branch is located along the city’s main road, Rizal Avenue.

The management established Farwest Lending Investor (FLI) now Farwest Lending Investors Development, Inc., a business affiliate of Palawan Pawnshop, significantly supported the company’s expansion program.

The Head Office was transferred to Palawan Pawnshop Building at 170 Rizal Avenue, Puerto Princesa City. We expanded our operations in Negros Occidental opening 3 branches in Victorias, Silay and Cadiz. Palawan Pawnshop Scholarship Program started.

Palawan Pawnshop started Palawan Express Pera Padala, a domestic money remittance business, with initial operations between Puerto Princesa and Cuyo in Palawan.

Officially launched Palawan Express Pera Padala in all of our branches, delivering cheap, fast and reliable money transfer service to the public. Entered into business partnerships to expand our remittance network in Luzon. We now have over 1,000 agent partners carrying Palawan Express. We opened our 1st branch in Metro Manila, the Palawan Pawnshop – España.

Palawan Pawnshop launched the Customers’ Choice Package and offered the public tiered loans with terms 1-11 days, 12-22 days, 23-33 days, with effective monthly interest of 2.73%. This was a pioneering move that dramatically changed the competitive landscape of the pawnshop industry. We acquired and deployed our first ronda cab in Iloilo Area for grassroots advertising and promotional activities.

Palawan Pawnshop Academy was established, heeding the growing need for continuous training and development for associates. Express Pera Padala was relaunched as Palawan Express Pera padala (PEPP) with a brand new logo. We embarked on our first national TV advertising campaign. The Company inaugurated the 5-story Cebu Regional Center in Mandaue City.

Changing the landscape of the remittance business, we ushered in the PPS myWallet Card – a remittance card, VISA card, ATM card and Suki card rolled into one.

Our very own Suki card was introduced, fostering continued patronage among customers. A celebration was held on March 29 at Skylight Convention Center as the number of PPS PEPP branches reached 1,000. The company-owned Manila Regional Center became the new seat of PPS in Manila located in Makati City. We partnered with UCPB Gen to offer microinsurance services in branches under the name PPS PEPP ProtekTODO. After the airing of “Pasa-bilis”, we bought out new and exciting TV Ads dubbed as “Reyna ng Universe”, with Dionisia, “Mommy D” Pacquiao as endorser. We forged to tie-up with the prestigious SM Group of Companies to make Palawan Express Pera Padala money remittances available in its malls nationwide.

As with the previous years, we joined Cebu’s Sinulog Grand Festival. Palawan Pawnshop Palawan Express Pera Padala placed 3rd in the Float Category Contest among 45 other float registered contingents. The Sinulog Float was graced by our endorser, Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao. We successfully established Bicol Region expansion. The company began installing a Comprehensive Security Alarm System to branches in order to prevent and deter criminal activity. Palawan Pawnshop celebrated 30th year of Exceptional Service. Had conducted a Takbo Palaweño Fun Run, Community Services and held a star-studded Bonggang Handog Pasasalamat Concert in Puerto Princesa City Coliseum. The company acquired Kuwartagram Visayas, Capital Pawnshop and VG Star Pawnshop operating in various parts in the Philippines. All branches has been integrated under Palawan Pawnshop management.

We joined the 5 "Euphoric" major festivals in the Philippines namely: January. Sinulog Festival in Cebu and Dinagyang in Iloilo. Both activities were attended by our brand ambassador, Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao. August. Higalaay Festival in Cagayan de Oro where the first public appearance of Benjie Paras took place as our new brand ambassador. September. Tuna Festival in General Santos City. Mommy D and Benjie Paras represented this event. October. Masskara Festival in Bacolod. This was attended by Benjie Paras. We launched the Smart Money Padala and encashment in selected Areas of Luzon where we operate Welcomed a new addition to the Palawan Pawnshop Family in the person of Benjie Paras, as our new brand ambassador. A month after, we aired the new TV ads dubbed as “Super Hero” with Benjie Paras and Mommy Dionisia as endorser.
