38TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION HIGHLIGHTS
Marking 38 years of impressive growth and success, Palawan Group of Companies (PGC), founded in 1985 as a small pawnshop, expanded its horizons in 2003 by entering the money remittance industry. The company's unwavering dedication to excellence and customer satisfaction propelled it to the forefront of the industry. In 2022, PGC reached a significant milestone by launching its e-wallet app, PalawanPay, offering modern financial solutions to its customers.
On August 12, 2023, as part of its anniversary festivities, PGC spearheaded the "Handog sa Kalikasan" environmental initiative. This involved enthusiastic participation from branch and non-branch associates nationwide, who engaged in simultaneous tree planting, coastal, and street cleanups. Aligned with the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility, this has become an annual tradition inaugurating the anniversary celebrations since 2022, following the launch of PGC's 1-Million Trees project in 2021, dedicated to planting hardwood trees like narra, ipil and ironwood.
On August 17, 2023, the day commenced with a Holy Eucharist celebration followed by the Monthly Flag Ceremony Program at the August 17 Auditorium in its new head office building in Puerto Princesa City. The event was broadcasted nationwide through its Facebook Closed Group, enabling associates from all corners of the country to join. The program's highlight was the announcement by the founder and CEO, Sir Bobby Lopez Castro (BLC), regarding his decision to step down as CEO effective January 1, 2024. The role will be assumed by the current Chief Operations Officer, Sir Karlo Eugen Josef Castro, while Sir BLC continues as the company's President, dedicating his time to visiting area management offices nationwide.
As Palawan Group of Company enters this new chapter, the anniversary celebration not only recognizes past achievements but also reaffirms the company's steadfast commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the welfare of its associates and the communities it serves.
