Tree-Planting

Palawan Group of Companies (PGC) is committed to environmental protection, and our flagship initiative, the 1 Million Trees Project, is a proof to that dedication.

In 2023, the Cagayan Area Branch Operations Management Office (ABOMO) took the lead among our 63 ABOMOs. They organized a tree planting activity and successfully planted 300 hardwood trees. To surpass their annual target, they collaborated with the local City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), generously donating over 5,000 seedlings.

Erwin Bagalihog, ABOM of Cagayan Area, expressed gratitude for PGC's involvement, highlighting the profound impact it had on the community. "The Tuguegarao City ENRO were delighted because it was the first time a company showed such concern for helping preserve and protect the environment. This assistance is significant for the City ENRO, especially since many organizations request seedlings from them for tree planting activities," he stated.

The significance of our 1 Million Trees Project extends beyond environmental conservation; it serves as a beacon of hope for communities affected by natural disasters. Cagayan Valley, with its geographical vulnerability to floods, has suffered immensely in recent years. The scarcity of trees worsens the impact of flooding, leading to loss of lives and agricultural devastation.

Our participation in this project is motivated by a sincere sense of corporate social responsibility to the people of Cagayan. By replenishing tree cover and collaborating with local authorities like CENRO, we aim to mitigate the risk of flooding and safeguard the lives and livelihoods of the Cagayanos. We are committed to continuing our efforts, aiming to surpass our target of 6,100 trees this year by actively engaging in CENRO's initiatives and donating seedlings.

Together, with the support of our dedicated team and community partners, we are making strides towards a greener, more resilient future for Cagayan and beyond. Together, we can make a difference—one tree at a time.
